Tartare

Tartare, the classic of Belgian cuisine. Delicious creamy sauce with crisped pieces of onion, a fresh mix of spring herbs & a sour finish. This exquisite sour sauce tastes great with cold fish or meat dishes, summer salads, grilled eel and crispy fries.
Did you know?
  • We make the La William Tartare using real onions. This vegetable is part of the garlic family and has a sharp taste and smell. The smell originally served to prevent animals from eating the plant and getting sick. It's also this scent that makes your eyes water when cutting it. Putting on a diving mask therefore makes little sense. If you are overwhelmed by the smell, don’t rub your eyes. Chances are you have juice from the onion on your hands, which amplifies the waterworks. It helps to keep onions in the refrigerator. Cutting cold onions releases less sulphur, and your eyes tear up less.
  • Many people confuse Tartare with Remoulade sauce? The main difference between the two sauces is that Tartare contains eggs, while remoulade sauce does not!
